Baboon Heart

Published in Tap into Poetry based in Manchester, UK.

I am untamed
emotions that
contain rage

I instill savagery
within the social
mapping of a
clique with a
high-security
hostel of hate

I echo that
screaming

I mimic that
heart beating

I encapsulate that
sacrum seething

You cannot cage me
for the face you save
will be the one you lose

You won’t hurt me
for I am too chaotic
to ever submit to you

You won’t ignore me
for my agility allows
for striking presence

You won’t forget me
for my emotions are
nobody’s play thing

You won’t suck me dry
for I am not a nipple
on your vodka bottle

But you want to stick
around and find out why
my brazen heart still beats
and why it’s shielded by a
thin and vulnerable veneer

Like a lamb skin condom
you don’t want to ever
fuck with a baboon
