Upon This Hill

Defending my words

Upending, flipping birds

Toward fabricated normalcy

Acclimated to dormancy

Enormously, rhetorically

I ask if I belong here

On this planet

I can’t stand it

Can barely sit still

Yet still I march without

Keys and parameters

Seizing these pentameters

Sonnets in craft

Sitting on the

Back burner

Gone and daft

Spit, I’m the

Returner

I’ve been sent diatribes

Of insults, I lent dough

I never took bribes

I will scream sermons

Until green serpents

Groove to vibrations

Of amplified anguish

Moving, staccato,

Gyrations vanquished

Wasted, disgraced

In this paradigm

Silence and fence sitting

New violence, sense fitting

Locks of gatekeepers

Clocks of late creepers

Time piece: never a sundial

No UV rays denoting an hour

Sour seconds, sloppy sections

Our protection, floppy erections

Intersection between grimoire pages

Supercilious superstitions scribbled

Don’t need mathematicians

Counting imaginary numbers

On arbitrary rating scales

Some armed, berating females

Thousands harmed, conflating

Details, waiting to be derailed

Soon after, I will repent

But not for dodging laughter

From those refusing to dissent

If I descend, I’ll be decent

No bias for the recent, defy us

I will not resent those for leaving

I was screaming before they

Succumbed to teething

But my gums are now bleeding

At the threat of complacency

Status of my agency: preoccupied

No room for vacancy, voids vast

Asteroids aghast like steroids

After coronary bypass

While I’m on this hill

I won’t swallow swill

Of beer flavored water

Just to be one with

This phony crowd

Pass me a lager or a stout

Or pilsner, there’s no doubt

I will hold it in my gut

I will stroll, I will

Strut up this hill

Upon which I

Will proudly die
